Williams Racing Team Statement

Williams Racing announces that Franco Colapinto will race with the team for the remainder of the 2024 FIA Formula 1 World Championship season and will compete from the Italian Grand Prix alongside Alex Albon. He will use the race number #43.

Franco is a member of the Williams Racing Driver Academy and made his FP1 debut in this year’s FW46 at the British Grand Prix. His F2 campaign this year has seen him secure a race win in Imola and podiums in the Barcelona and Austria Feature races, as well as seven further points-scoring outings.

The 21-year-old will become the 49th Grand Prix driver for Williams Racing*, is the first Argentine driver in F1 for 23 years and the second Argentine to drive for the British outfit, following his countryman Carlos Reutemann.

The team would like to take the opportunity to thank Logan Sargeant for his hard work and contribution over the past two seasons. He has competed in 36 Grands Prix and, at the US GP last year, became the first American driver to score an F1 point since Michael Andretti 30 years prior. Logan will remain in the Williams family and we will support him to continue his racing career.

Williams Racing anuncia que Franco Colapinto correrá con el equipo por el resto de la temporada 2024 del Campeonato Mundial de Fórmula 1 de la FIA y competirá junto con Alex Albon a partir del Gran Premio de Italia. Utilizará el número 43 para correr.

Franco es miembro de la Academia de Pilotos de Williams Racing e hizo su debut en la FP1 en el FW46 de este año en el Gran Premio de Gran Bretaña. Su campaña en la F2 de este año le aseguró una victoria en Imola y podios en las carreras de Barcelona y Austria, además de otras siete participaciones en las que sumó puntos.

El joven de 21 años se convertirá en el piloto número 49 de Williams Racing* en competir por un Gran Premio. Además, es el primer piloto argentino de F1 en los últimos 23 años y el segundo argentino en correr para el equipo británico, luego de su compatriota Carlos Reutemann.

El equipo aprovecha la oportunidad de agradecer a Logan Sargeant, por su arduo trabajo y colaboración en las últimas dos temporadas. Ha competido en 36 Grandes Premios y, en el Gran Premio de los Estados Unidos del año pasado, se convirtió en el primer piloto estadounidense en obtener puntos en la F1 luego de Michael Andretti, hace 30 años. Logan seguirá siendo parte de la familia Williams y lo apoyaremos para que continúe su carrera automovilística.
