Atlassian Williams Racing scored its second double points finish of the 2025 season at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, as Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon came home in P8 and P9 respectively.
The race got off to a dramatic start as Yuki Tsunoda and Pierre Gasly came together on the opening lap, bringing out the Safety Car. Both Carlos and Alex navigated the incident cleanly, avoiding the chaos and holding their ground as the pack bunched up.
When racing resumed, both drivers settled into a rhythm around the high-speed streets of Jeddah, running inside the top ten and keeping good pace. Lando Norris would make his way past Carlos seven laps in, but that was to be the only loss of position after the Safety Car, with our pair in P8 and P9.
The team committed to a one-stop strategy, with both cars starting on the Medium compound before switching to Hards just before the midway point of the race.

With strong in-laps, our duo emerged back out on the track well-positioned for the final stint as they cut their way back through some of the hard tyre starters in tandem.
It was not to be plain sailing to the finish, however. The RB of Isack Hadjar had made the Hard-Medium strategy work well, and after the French rookie stopped, he returned to the track three seconds behind Alex.
Immediately discussion was underway over the radio to play the team game, with Carlos welcoming Alex into his DRS window, giving him protection from the RB.
The final 10 laps played out with the trio split by less than two seconds, but the teamwork paid off and we depart Jeddah with another six points added to our tally.
"Solid day! We’ve been strong throughout the race, first on the Medium tyre and then coming through the field on the Hard tyre with good overtakes until the checkered flag," Carlos shared.
"Towards the end of the race the team identified that Hadjar was going to be a threat for Alex, so with 12-13 laps to go I was asked to give him DRS. It wasn’t easy, as in this track, with three DRS zones, the slightest of mistakes can be very costly.
"However, we managed it perfectly and secured an important double points finish for the team. I’m very happy after putting together a good weekend and I can’t wait for Miami!"

"We played a great team game today and maximised the result to bring home some good points," Alex commented.
"We were quite comfortable managing Hadjar behind, holding a DRS train to the end of the race so he couldn’t gain the advantage. It was a scenario we had prepared for ahead of the race, and we worked well together to make it happen.
"We came back really strong today, and I’m proud of the progress we’ve made as a team."
James Vowles completed our reaction by saying: "Really great work by the team. This was a well-earned, proper points finish, putting us fifth in the Constructors’ Championship.
"We are so fortunate to have two world-class drivers at the top of their game, and today you saw how that pays off. Today was about the team, not an individual, and I couldn’t be prouder."
The prediction window for this Grand Prix has now closed.
