Find out what the press have been saying about Williams Racing in recent days.

This week’s media coverage has been dominated by the news that Franco Colapinto will be stepping up to Formula 1 for the remainder of 2024.
The Williams Academy driver is replacing Logan Sargeant and has nine rounds of action to impress — starting with the upcoming Italian Grand Prix.
His promotion hasn’t been the only story over the past few days, however, with a host of topics grabbing the headlines…

Colapinto clamour

There is plenty of excitement surrounding Franco’s aforementioned ascent to Formula 1, not least in his native Argentina.
La Nacion and the Buenos Aires Herald reported on the story, alongside a host of national publications — from the BBC to Sky Sports and the Athletic.
The Independent focused on Alex’s heartfelt message to the departing Logan, however.
“You gave it your all brother and it’s been a pleasure being teammates with you. I know whatever you do next, you’ll be awesome,” he said on X / Twitter.

Albono’s silver lining

Last weekend’s Quali disqualification for Alex was frustrating for all concerned, but there were undoubtedly some positives to take from our weekend in Zandvoort.
Albono acknowledged as much post-race, as reported by Formula1.com.
“The silver lining from the weekend is the car is quick,” he said.
“I think even in moments in the race when I had clean air, the pace was strong, but I didn’t have many clean laps in the race.
“It bodes well for Monza, a track that we’re normally pretty strong at. I’ll be interested to see if we’re still strong this year.”

Hoogendoorn joins the team

Dutch karter Dean Hoogendoorn is the latest addition to Williams’ Driver Academy.
The 12-year-old is an exciting prospect, having won the German KM Mini karts title and the WSK Euro Series since 2022.
His announcement was covered by Motors Inside, F1 technical and Formula Scout.

Sainz set to shake things up

Carlos Sainz is confident that he can push Williams up the grid when he heads to Grove in 2025, as outlined in The Times on Wednesday.
Alex was also positive about Carlos’ arrival — per Formula1.com, he is relishing linking up with the Spaniard and believes the pair will learn from each other next term.
But Albono doesn’t think there needs to be any hierarchy in the team once CS55 arrives, as he explained in an exclusive interview with Crash.net.
