Find out what Franco Colapinto shared over the Team Radio as his race came to an end in Singapore

It’s a reflection of just how far the team has come in such a short space of time that we leave Singapore disappointed with no points to our name.
After all, just 24 months ago we lined up P18 and P19 on the grid at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. This weekend, we firmly found ourselves in the battle for the top 10 after our best Singapore Quali result since 2016.
However, it wasn’t to be, with Franco seeing the flag just 1.6s shy of P10, and Alex being forced into an early retirement.
The 62 laps of Singapore are nothing like our young Argentine racer has ever experienced before in his career, with the punishing conditions affecting everyone on the grid.
Both Gaetan Jego (GJ) and James Vowles (JV) were full of praise for the Buenos Aires native on his in-lap.
GJ: Taking the flag… that’s the flag. That’s P11. That was a tough one, you made it to the 62 laps.
FC: Sorry mate, I couldn’t speak but it’s not that I didn’t want to. It’s just that I wanted to save energy.
GJ: I know, it’s good learning. It’s building up. OK. It’s building you up, it’s a very tough race, probably the toughest of your life so far. That’s P11… we’re out of the points but you fought well.
FC: Yeah, sorry I couldn’t really attack too much, I wasn’t feeling comfortable to do so. I tried but it was very difficult to follow close, mate.
JV: Franco, you did a fantastic race. I think Gaetan summarised it well, this is one of the toughest races you have ever done and you were there, seconds from the points. We win together, we lose together. I think we had a car this weekend that if we got everything right, there were points available. But I can tell you one thing, I’m really excited by these last six races together. That is a fast car and so much potential.
FC: Yeah, James. Agreed. I could keep up with Perez, the Haas and the Aston so it’s promising. I wasn’t feeling well to fight, but we were there the whole race. Let’s keep building up. Just have a lot of stomach pain.
JV: Alright Franco, just come on in and we’ll help you.
Both Alex and Franco will be back behind the wheel this weekend when we head to Austin for the US Grand Prix in four weeks time.
