Williams Racing today announced an extension to its multi-year partnership with Acronis, a global leader in cyber protection. Acronis will continue as Official Cyber Protection Partner of the team, building on our previous partnership and delivering innovative data protection solutions, including backup, disaster recovery, software-defined storage, and file sync and share to the team.
Since Williams and Acronis first partnered at the start of the 2018 Formula One season. Acronis has helped the team grow volumes of data without compromising the security and flexibility mandated by the sport. Williams has benefited from Acronis Cyber Protect since 2020, a unique AI-enhanced solution that integrates data protection with cybersecurity, preventing cyberattacks and helping the team avoid downtime, data loss, and security breaches.
Formula One is one of the world’s most technologically advanced sports, operating in a high-pressure manufacturing environment that requires high reliability and performance. Every Grand Prix weekend Formula One teams capture hundreds of gigabytes of telemetry data and produce terabytes of engineering and test data at the factory. The ability to interpret the data and make informed decisions is often what sets teams apart. After Williams Racing’s people, it makes data the most valuable asset in the race toward the finish line.
As part of the partnership, Acronis will retain prominent branding on the FW43B from the season-opening Grand Prix in Bahrain. As well as on-car branding, Acronis will feature throughout the Williams Racing garage and hospitality areas, on teamwear and helmets of George Russell and Nicholas Latifi.
Tim Hunt, Commercial and Marketing Director for Williams Racing, said: “We are delighted to continue partnering with Acronis as Official Cyber Protection Partner of Williams Racing. Technical innovation is pivotal at Williams, and it is essential that we protect our data in the highly competitive environment that is Formula One. Acronis has helped us protect our data with secure backup, disaster recovery, and file sync and share solutions. The values that we share with Acronis, to push technology and innovation has ensured that this is a prosperous partnership and we look forward to driving continuous improvements as the team embarks on its next chapter.”
Serguei Beloussov, CEO of Acronis, added: “We are proud to support one of the most iconic Formula One teams on the grid. With our technology, we’re ensuring the safety, accessibility, privacy, authenticity, and security (SAPAS) of Williams Racing’s workloads, data, applications, and systems. By using this design methodology, we can deliver the highest calibre of cyber protection, keeping the team’s data tamper-free and easily accessible for smooth day-to-day operations. We are committed to working with Williams Racing as they protect their edge with Acronis.”
