Williams brings its STEM Experience to the Silverstone Circuit

Williams were invited down to Silverstone's Summer Jam, an event prior to the race weekend to teach young people about STEM careers within formula one. There were over 1000 people in attendance with most stopping by the Williams stand to learn more about STEM experiences and early careers opportunities available, whilst also getting some merch to represent the team.

To further the message about all the STEM opportunities at Williams, a giveaway to win a signed Williams Racing cap was held on social media. All the fans had to do was share a photo of them at summer jam on Instagram and use the hashtag #STEMwithWilliams. The posts and stories were amazing and showed the fans having a wonderful time!

The STEM Experience at the Experience Centre at the factory is a free day for students aged 8-16 that is full of fun and interactive activities. The day comprises of:
A museum tour around one of the biggest car collections and learn about car development, carbon fibre and tyre technology
Esports simulator races at different formula One tracks across the world
An insight into STEM careers in F1 including engineering, materials, design, testing and much more
Project based STEM activity aligning with the National Curriculum in areas such as composites, aerodynamics, crash testing etc.
The Williams STEM School Program has now taken 3508 students so far this year under it's revamped event day and is due to welcome 215 school visits this year. Our goal is to welcome 10,000 students a year through our doors to inspire the next generation about the world of STEM. The program aims to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders and inform young people about the world of engineering within Williams. Students feedback has replicated this goal and left them inspired to become engineers. They said:
“Thank you and I appreciate you so much because you have given me a new possible career choice” - Student - Mascalls Academy.
“Thank you for your enthusiasm - I hadn't serious considered a career in engineering before today” - Student - Beaumont School.
