Pre-Season Testing is a crucial part of any Formula 1 campaign, providing teams with invaluable data on their cars before the season kicks off. Over three days in Bahrain, Atlassian Williams Racing put in an impressive 2,137km (1,328 miles) of mileage with Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz behind the wheel.

But just how far is that in real-world terms? Let’s put our testing distance into perspective with some notable comparisons.
Grove to Madrid – 1,849km (1,148 miles)
Williams' home is in Grove, Oxfordshire, while Carlos Sainz hails from Madrid, Spain. Our FW47s testing mileage would be enough to get you from our factory all the way to Carlos’ home city, with nearly 300km to spare... enough for a full race distance around the new-for-2026 street circuit.
Miami to Austin – 2,137km (1,328 miles)
The United States hosts three Grands Prix in 2025, with and Miami being the first two stateside stops. Our total testing mileage is, quite remarkably, the exact road distance between the Miami International Autodrome and Circuit of the Americas, a road trip that would take us across five states.
Anyone fancy a road trip from the Sunshine State to the Lone Star State?
Singapore to Bangkok – 1,829km (1,136 miles)
Alex Albon, our resident Thai racing driver, treats the Singapore GP as his home race. Our testing mileage would have easily covered the journey from Singapore to Bangkok, a trip of 1,829km, with enough distance left to explore the bustling streets of the Thai capital.
New York to Montreal to Toronto and back to New York – 1,928km (1,198 miles)
Our testing mileage would have easily covered this journey, with enough left over to explore the streets of Toronto or take in the views from the Empire State Building upon returning to New York. It's a great road trip taking in plenty of sights, including Niagara Falls, and experiencing a variety of cultures along the way. This journey even features a trip through Scranton, PA, for all those fans of The Office out there.
Brisbane to Melbourne (via Sydney) – 1,781km (1,106 miles)
Australia is a vast country, and this trip only covers one corner of the island! Our testing mileage would have easily taken us from Brisbane down to Melbourne, passing through Sydney along the way. Melbourne is, of course, the destination for Race 1 of the 2025 season, making this a fitting comparison. Even after reaching Albert Park, we’d still have enough mileage left for a cruise along the Great Ocean Road!
