We’ve seen the debates, now have your say… Bonsai, Carbon, Carlex or Alelos?

At the turn of the new year, Carlos Sainz officially became a Williams Racing driver, pairing up with Alex Albon for 2025 and beyond.
Amidst all the excitement and anticipation, one question has dominated our notifications tab ever since: What should the nickname for our new driver pairing be?
We’ve seen all the heated debates, countless suggestions, and passionate arguments for and against every option. Now, it’s time for us to step in and help you decide.
From what we can gather, there are four clear front-runners in the quest to neatly combine Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz’s names. They are:

Bonsai, Carbon, Carlex and Alelos

Bonsai – This clever nickname plays on the artful and resilient bonsai tree, a symbol of precision, care and growth – befitting of the journey both Alex and Carlos are on at Grove. Does this clever fusion of their names (BON + SAI) get your support?
Carbon – This nickname not only combines our duos names, but it also cleverly reflects the material that makes up our machines. However, there is some controversy about it incorporating one first name and one last name. But the ability to call our fans ‘Carbonaras’ is a compelling counter argument - are you part of the Carbonara movement?
Carlex – The classic name pairing! No puns, traditional to the artform of F1 nicknames and straight to the point. Carlex has a ring to it that’s impossible to ignore. Simple yet effective.
Alelos – Unique and effortlessly cool, much like our drivers! Alelos blends "Alex" and "Carlos" with a sprinkling of international flair, giving it a vibe that reflects the duo’s global appeal.
So, which one gets your green light? Let us know in the vote below. Voting closes at 3pm (GMT) on Friday 10 January - you can vote for your favourite once per day.
