Today, Coachbuilt Whisky and Williams Racing announce the inaugural release of their co-branded, limited-edition series of whiskies that pay homage to Williams Racing and its rich heritage.
The debut spirit is an 18-Year-Old Blended Scotch Whisky clocking in at 48% ABV and aged in a mix of ex-Sherry and ex-Bourbon casks.
This dynamic collaboration brings together two innovators in their respective domains – merging the expertise of Williams Racing in motorsport engineering with the passion for precision and craftsmanship embodied by Coachbuilt.
The partnership will be celebrated this evening with a special launch event at Silverstone.
“The launch of our inaugural release is the culmination of my dream to blend my two big passions: racing and Scotch Whisky,” said Jenson Button.
“With that said, racing fans and Scotch collectors have a lot to be excited about, as we bring forward some truly unique whiskies – all beautifully blended to create a smooth and well-balanced sipping experience.”
Coachbuilt is renowned throughout the Scotch Whisky world for its unique approach to blending – sourcing liquid from all five whisky-producing regions in Scotland, including Speyside, Highland, Islay, Campbeltown, and Lowlands.
Blended at Claxton’s by Coachbuilt Co-Founder George Koutsakis, the mash bill is 100% malted barley.
The nose on the 18-Year-Old presents orchard fruit and winter spice before subtle hints of vanilla, dark chocolate and cinnamon impress the palate – while the finish is long, smooth, and rich. The whisky is best served neat or on the rocks.
Housed in a commemorative bottle that is sure to pique the interest of racing aficionados, the packaging design is based on the FW18, one of Williams Racing most successful and iconic cars.
The success of the FW18 defied an entire era of racing, and Coachbuilt pays tribute to the car and the number with a celebratory blend of whiskies – matured for more than 18 years.
In addition to the 18-Year-Old release, this alliance will produce several limited-edition whiskies that will honour some of the most remarkable moments in Williams Racing’s history.
It also celebrates the long and prosperous relationship between Williams and Jenson, which began in 2000 when the team provided him with his breakthrough opportunity in Formula 1.
Beyond the special editions, the licensing partnership will see the core Coachbuilt edition available for Williams guests in the paddock.
Starting today, the whisky will be available for pre-orders at
www.masterofmalt.com and at select fine spirits retailers across the UK beginning in August. Coachbuilt Williams 18-Year-Old Blended Scotch Whisky sells for £230 for a 700ml bottle. Only 3,000 bottles will be released globally.
