It’s something we’ve all been waiting for since confirming our 2022 driver line-up last September – this week we were delighted to welcome Alex Albon to Grove for his first official day as a Williams Racing driver.
The Thai-British racer, hot off the plane from his Los Angeles training camp, was shown around our Oxfordshire home, taking a glimpse at the latest progress with the car build.
Alex was straight down to work in the team’s driver-in-the-loop simulator, getting up to speed with the squad’s preparations ahead of the new season.
Speaking after his first afternoon in his new surroundings, Alex said: “It was nice to see the team after a long break.
“I’ve said hello a couple of times in the paddock, but this was my first time visiting the car crew in their own work environment.
“Obviously we’re in weird times right now so it’s a bit quieter than it normally would be, but it was nice to get a good day of simulator work in.
“These are really exciting times, it was great to get straight to it and start developing the car so we can to get it in the best window possible for when we take to the track.”
Like most first days, there were plenty of introductions and names to remember, so we’ll give Alex a few more weeks to memorise them all.
Check back throughout the week for more exclusive content on Alex as he settles into life at Grove and we continue to gear up for a new era at Williams.
