Discover all the insights around the Gulf Fan Livery final

There are just over 24 hours remaining in the Gulf x Williams Racing Fan Livery final, with Heritage facing off against Bolder than Bold.
The final is currently too close to call, and the power remains in your hands. Let's recap the story behind both designs, starting with Heritage.
This is a livery that looks to celebrate the iconic Gulf Heritage. Like Williams Racing, Gulf are firmly future-facing, and also have a rich and extraordinary history.
This design is the ultimate reminder to always be iconic, to inspire, to make moves on and off the track that accelerate progress.
Ed Scott, Head of Creative at Williams Racing, guides us through more of the details.
When Ed was coming up with the look of Heritage, he understandably took inspiration from the decades of Gulf designs that have come before us.
“We wanted a livery that really stood out as quintessentially Gulf,” he shared.
“It’s a design that once it’s raced in Singapore, Japan and Qatar, could be stuck into the ROFGO Gulf Heritage Collection and look right at home.
“The key was to keep it as clean as possible, lots of light baby powder blue on the surface with subtle and tasteful amounts of orange woven into key areas.”

It’s these small but powerful hints of orange on the wings, halo and across the bodywork that really bring Heritage together, as Ed was more than happy to explain.
“The orange wraps along the base of the bodywork and also swooshes off the top around the roll hoop.
“It frames and complements the powder blue really well, but there was something else we just had to add.
“It wouldn’t be a traditional Gulf livery without the iconic stripe. Ours starts on the top of the nose and then runs subtly onto the halo before tailing off onto the rear wing.”

For Ed, this was more than just another work project, as creating the Heritage livery evoked childhood memories.
”When I was a kid in the mid-90s, I had a Gulf Formula 1 pencil case that my mum bought for me.
“I can remember thinking how cool it was and then, not too long after, I went to the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the car from my case was on the hill climb!
“I instantly fell in love and the Gulf brand, with these famous colours, has a very big part to play in that – it’s imprinted in my brain!
“The colour scheme is iconic in motorsport and to have had the opportunity to work on this project, with the Gulf team, is like winning the designer lottery.”
Gulf highlights the importance of their heritage and the significance of the fans.
“From the Ford GT and Porsche 917, the iconic Gulf colours are one of the most recognisable liveries within the motorsport community.
“Over the years, the orange and blue livery has evolved but continues to hold a place in the hearts of Gulf fans around the world.”
