Edition 4: The FW34 secures iconic victory
FW34 2012 Pastor Maldonado, SPAIN GP
2012 was the penultimate year of the impressive V8 in F1 and it was in the FW34 with Pastor Maldonado roaring Williams to their first win in 8 years - ending an unwelcome drought as the team transitioned through a turbulent decade for motorsport.
The Williams Racing team introduced a substantial package upgrade which included a new floor, sidepods and a front wing which contributed to a superior aerodynamic ability against a fiercely competitive grid in Barcelona.
An eventful race saw Maldonado navigate and overcome multiple hurdles, notably a slow right rear wheel change on his 3rd pit stop which nearly cost him his position. However, the upgraded package on the FW34 was delivering the performance required to claim first place.
The ‘underrated’ FW34 is locked in history as it remains the most recent car to secure a 1st place finish for Williams Racing.
