Five Things to Know About the 2025 Saudi Arabian GP

Following last weekend’s action in Bahrain, we’re now headed back to Jeddah for the 2025 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, the fifth installment of the 2025 Formula 1 calendar.

With four racing weekends now under our belts, the FW47 now gets set to take on one of the fastest and most demanding circuits on the calendar.

Here’s what you need to know before the lights go out on the Red Sea coast.

The Jeddah Corniche Circuit is a true outlier: 6.174 km long, 27 corners, and yet drivers are flat out for roughly 70% of the lap.

Second only to Monza in fastest speed and third only to Spa-Francorchamps and the Las Vegas Strip Circuit in overall length, Jeddah demands precision and confidence from drivers threading the needle at an average speed of 250 km/h.

Expect high-speed commitment and razor-thin margins - it’s not a place where mistakes go unpunished.

While the race starts after sunset, temperatures in Jeddah can still hover well above 25°C at night.

As such, engineers will need to keep a close eye on tyre performance and cooling systems, similar to how they did in Bahrain.

As always with night races, practice and qualifying sessions held in very different conditions add to the complexity - getting the setup right for cooler track temperatures when it matters most is no easy task.

The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix keeps its traditional late-night slot, with the race set to get underway under floodlights at 8 PM local time.

Racing under the stars brings added drama, as sparks fly off the cars and shadows dance across the barriers of this narrow street circuit.

It’s the FW47’s second night race of the season - and we’re eager to see how it performs on this glittering high-speed stage.

Luke Browning and Victor Martins return to action in Saudi Arabia for the third round of their Formula 2 seasons.

After driving a Formula 1 car alongside Alex in FP1 in Sakhir on Friday, Luke returned to F2 to earn another podium finish on Sunday.

Atlassian Williams Racing has unfinished business in Jeddah.

Since the circuit debuted in 2021, luck hasn’t always been on our side: collisions, retirements, and brake gremlins have all played a part in preventing both cars from seeing the chequered flag.

Both drivers completed the race in 2024 for the first time since its debut on the calendar. but neither were able to score points.

After a largely positive start to the 2025 season so far, both Alex and Carlos will be hungry to make their mark in Jeddah this year.
