Did you predict the unpredictable at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve?

We’re just about settling down after a memorable Canadian Grand Prix which saw an Alex Albon masterclass shoot us up to P9 in the Constructors' Championship.
Albono’s P7 finish - his best-ever result for Williams Racing - came after a stunning 58-lap stint on hard tyres and a flawless strategy from the team all weekend.
The topsy-turvy race - which included Logan Sargeant’s unfortunate early DNF - made it impossible to call for most players in Pit Wall Predictions, presented by Gulf, with just 12% picking up 20 points or more.
Remarkably, two fans scored full marks in Montreal, earning themselves the prestigious Pit Wall Perfection badge in the process.
At the top of the leaderboard, we still have a three-way tie for P1 with the trio of gurus sitting pretty on 170 points.
See how you got on by clicking the link below. Read on to see how your predictions compared to other players and, of course, 'The Strategist'.

Pit Wall Predictions

Q1: On which lap will Alex make his first stop?

After George Russell collided with the wall on Lap 12, Alex Albon quickly took advantage of the Safety Car to swap his medium tyres for hard.
This placed him in the Lap 11-20 bracket, which a whopping 76% of you - not including The Strategist - correctly predicted.

Q2: On which lap will Logan make his first stop?

Unfortunately, an oil leak brought an early end to Logan Sargeant’s race on Lap 7, resulting in his first DNF of the 2023 season.
‘No Stop Made’ was therefore the correct answer, with just 0.24% predicting this.
The Strategist will have been happy not to score in this one, opting for Lap 21-30.

Q3: Which Williams Racing driver will pit first?

Alex had pitted first at five of the seven races in 2023 before Canada, and that trend continued in Montreal, with 66% of you correctly calling that our No23 would box first, including The Strategist.

Q4: When the first Williams Racing driver pits, what position will they pit from?

Albono had maintained a strong position before boxing under the Safety Car, sitting within the points-paying positions in P8.
Only 17% picked up five points by choosing the P6-P10 option, and our ever-optimistic Strategist was one of them.

Q5: How many pit stops will our drivers make between them?

Given Logan’s unfortunate early DNF and Alex’s incredible 58-lap stint, this question was always likely to trip the majority of players up.
Just 5%, not including The Strategist, bagged five points here.

Q6: How many full Safety Car periods will there be?

Our good friend The Strategist picked up their final handful of points by correctly predicting that there would be one Safety Car on Sunday.
50% of all players scored five points here, despite the SC appearing three times in 2022.

Q7: At the end of the race, how close will the gap between Alex and the car ahead be?

After a masterful 58 laps on hard tyres, and occupying P7, at the end of the race Alex’s fight was with the cars behind not ahead.
So it’s no surprise that he finished 9.785s off Sergio Perez.
Only 17% of you correctly called ‘7.6+ seconds’ here, with The Strategist expecting our Thai racer to be in more of a battle with the drivers ahead.

Q8: At the end of the race, how close will the gap between Logan and the car ahead be?

Through no fault of his own, Sarge’s race ended early, something only 7% of PWP players predicted, with The Strategist, of course, not one of them.

The Strategist’s Score: 3/8

At face value, this perhaps wasn’t a strong score for our secretive insider, but 15 points in a tough-to-call Canadian Grand Prix is not to be scoffed at.
In fact, this result sees The Strategist rise six places to 22nd in the global PWP rankings.
Upon breaking that news this morning they told us, “‘l’ll take that”.
