We take an in-depth look into how 2024 is going for The Strategist

The frantic 2024 F1 season has hit the summer break to let everyone slow down for a few weeks, including the most secretive person at Williams Racing headquarters.
The Grove Guru, known only as The Strategist, has shared their predictions for each of the 14 races this year for our free-to-play game, Pit Wall Predictions, presented by Gulf.
We ask you eight questions ahead of every Grand Prix. All you need to do is answer with what you expect to happen in the race.
For The Strategist, their predictions go public, to help advise all other players for their Sunday picks.
We took a race-by-race look at how the year has progressed for them and the thousands of you predicting from home across 2024's first 14 rounds.

Bahrain: The Strategist's Score - 4/8

It was a middle-of-the-road performance from The Strategist in Sakhir, scoring half marks in the season opener.
But that's only against their own lofty expectations, with 76% of players taking 15 points or fewer from Bahrain.
Alex's Lap 15 pit stop gifted points to 86% of you, while Logan's Lap 10 tyre change proved the lowest scoring, with only 8% being correct.

Saudi Arabia: The Strategist's Score - 5/8

While Alex's pit stop gave most players points in Bahrain, his first pit lane trip in the early Safety Car period tripped up all but 2% of players in Saudi Arabia.
That single Bernd Mayländer cameo did help out, however - the week's highest-scoring question (69%) was for "How many full Safety Car periods will there be?"
The Strategist did well in the Middle Eastern double-header, while one player picked up 2024's first elusive Pit Wall Perfection badge for an 8/8 score from Jeddah.

Australia: The Strategist's Score - 3/4

We were reduced to a single car in Australia, so only half points were on offer in Melbourne.
Technically, this was the best result so far from The Strategist, picking up 75% of the points, but it became their lowest score of the opening three races.
Only 4% guessed there wouldn't be a Safety Car intervention, while the highest-scoring answer came for the 46% who foresaw Alex's 30-lap tyre stint.

Japan: The Strategist's Score - 3/8

Suzuka saw the lowest-scoring answer of 2024, with only four players predicting Alex wouldn't make a stop. The unfortunate Lap 1 crash ended his race.
However, Logan's P12 position helped 62% score for predicting where he'd be in the order for our first pit stop.
Despite a tricky weekend for all players, The Strategist's early-season efforts had them just five points off the leaders after Japan.

China: The Strategist's Score - 6/8

A return to Shanghai had The Strategist take their joint-highest score of 2024, though they still didn't top the leaderboard as F1 ended its springtime trip to Asia.
They would share the top spot had they joined the 7% who correctly predicted Alex's Lap 9 pit stop.
The high-scoring race didn't see any Pit Wall Perfections, but 11 players beat The Strategist by scoring 7/8.

Miami: The Strategist's Score - 5/8

The first of three flights to the USA was memorable for The Strategist as they finally reached the P1 spot... along with five other players!
Again, an early Albono pit stop had them drop valuable points, with only 4% predicting the Lap 10 tyre change.
Nonetheless, Alex's undercut from P14 was a correct prediction for The Strategist and 66% of players in Miami's highest-scoring question.

Emilia Romagna: The Strategist's Score - 2/8

Maybe The Strategist flew too close to the sun, or perhaps their time at the top made them overconfident?
Whatever it was, their slow descent through the standings began in Imola.
There was another tricky race for a "first pit stop" prediction here, too, with only 1.8% guessing Logan would reach the highest 'Lap 31+' bracket before he stopped.

Monaco: The Strategist's Score - 3/8

A return to Shanghai had The Strategist take their joint-highest score of 2024, though they still didn't top the leaderboard as F1 ended its springtime trip to Asia.
They would share the top spot had they joined the 7% who correctly predicted Alex's Lap 9 pit stop.
The high-scoring race didn't see any Pit Wall Perfections, but 11 players beat The Strategist by scoring 7/8.

Montreal: The Strategist's Score - 2/8

More low points for The Strategist slipped them down to P4 in the PWP standings, but they did match the median score in Montreal.
The lowest-scoring question came from Logan not reaching the pit lane in Canada, which only 1.6% predicted.
However, Alex being the Williams driver to pit first, saw the highest tally, with 66%.

Spain: The Strategist's Score - 5/8

The Strategist's pain ended in Spain when they again joined the higher scorers by taking 25 points from Barcelona.
A two-stop strategy for Alex and Logan netted points for 81% and 75% of you, respectively.
Albono's double dip to the pits is one of the highest-scoring questions of the year, though he helped even more one week later...

Austria: The Strategist's Score - 4/8

An early Alex pit stop on Lap 12 in Spielberg meant 84% of PWP players added five points to their season's score.
The Strategist was one of them, but they weren't in the 5% who called an even earlier stop for Sarge.
A front wing swap for car #2 had our crew jumping into action on the race's opening lap.

Britain: The Strategist's Score - 3/8

Although The Strategist kept pace with most players by taking 15 points, the most common score, they slipped to P5 after Silverstone.
It's tough to stay at the top, and the on-off rain on a very British summer day proved tricky to predict.
Yet they correctly answered "Four" for the total Williams Racing pit stops as Alex headed to his P9 finish.

Hungary: The Strategist's Score - 1/8

Budapest is the weekend that The Strategist would like to forget, taking their worst score of 2024 from Hungary.
They'll be thankful Alex ended the race in P11-P15 else it would've been the embarrassment of a zero-score Sunday.
Logan's super-late pit stop surprised many players, explaining The Strategist's score.

Belgium: The Strategist's Score - 6/8

The Strategist will be grateful Hungary isn't the race before the break anymore, with Spa being a joint-best result to head into summer with.
Not to take anything away from that score, but three players did pick up their Pit Wall Perfection badge from Spa.
With 10 races to go, The Strategist's Belgian haul means they're back on the verge of the top five.

The Strategist's 2024 so far - Joint P6 (260 points)

That's a marked improvement from 2023, with 225 points as their equivalent from 14 rounds last year.
Despite the Australian half points, 2024 has higher points for our leader, who sits with 285 today.
Last year, there were 275 points for the leading duo as F1 left Monza.
If you're in the top five positions with 265 points or more, enjoy the break - but stay sharp for Zandvoort, where Pit Wall Predictions, presented by Gulf, will return.
