The Qatar Grand Prix was another race that saw just one Williams Racing car reach the chequered flag after Franco Colapinto’s evening ended at the first corner through no fault of his own.
Alex Albon ended a run of three races without finishing on Sunday, and if a late gamble had paid off, he looked set for a points return.
However, his soft tyres faded, and he ultimately slipped down the order in the closing stages.
James Urwin (JU), Alex’s Race Engineer, was on the radio to our No23 post-race, as was our Team Principal, James Vowles (JV).
JU: OK, that's P15. That was a tough one at the end, but it was potential.
AA: Yeah, it was a nice try.
JV: Sorry, Alex. It was a little bit of a gamble to try and get us up there. Well done. It'll come back, one more race.
JU: It looks like we might have picked up some damage on the front wing after the contact with Magnussen. Just to add to some more issues. But nice job, nice job today.
AA: Yeah, thank you, everyone. I know it's been a bit tough but let's try and end in Abu Dhabi on a good one.
Both Alex and Franco will be back behind the wheel this weekend at the 2024 season finale in Abu Dhabi.
