A warm welcome to the Shanghai International Circuit, which returned to the calendar after four seasons away in 2024.
Shanghai has hosted the Chinese Grand Prix since its inauguration in 2004 with this impressive circuit of eye-catching architecture and facilities.
Its layout, with a combination of long straights and a diverse range of corners, features wide corners to encourage passing and differing lines, and two long straights where slipstreaming guarantees wheel-to-wheel action.
Circuit Overview:
The Shanghai International Circuit sits at 5.451 km (3.388 miles) with 16 turns, starting with the seemingly never-ending snail-shaped Turns 1 and 2 — two tightening right-handers that demand careful braking and precise throttle control.
Sector 2 begins with a right-hand hairpin, but it's mostly single file through the curves until reaching the entirely different third and final sector.
There's a 1.2 km straight between Turn 13 and Turn 14 for drivers to drag race down, and the lap concludes on the pit straight, which itself is 0.8 km long for more flat-out racing.

ALEX and JAMES
ALEX: Well done everyone. Good points. I think we got a bit unlucky. ALEX: The hard was so good and I think we could have got Kimi there if the issue didn't happen at the end. JAMES: Alex, well done. It's a good point. Agreed with you there was more in it, but I'm more encouraged by the fact that we had a good race car underneath us today. That we won't lose. JAMES: I'm looking forward to the next few races. Yeah, good recovery from yesterday everyone, so well done.

PIT and CARLOS
PIT: That's P13. Alex P9. You were matching Alex's lap time... a lot of learnings, but there's still some more for us to do. JAMES: Carlos, well done. A tough race out there but a lot of learning and I think we got a little bit unlucky as the tyres held on better than expected. JAMES: It didn't quite pan out the way we wanted it to. I'm encouraged with the car pace so we'll build on that. CARLOS: Yeah. I think we improved the car compared to yesterday but, on my side, a lot of work to do still. Things to find. I think I am faster than this. JAMES: You are, of course, a lot faster than this. We'll do this together.
